Dear Business Friend,

The Friends of Shenendehowa Crew, Inc. is organizing our 3rd Annual Rubber Ducky Regatta for Saturday,  May 31st, 2008 at the Shenendehowa Crew Boathouse on Maritime Avenue, Alplaus, NY.  Festivities are planned from 8:00a.m. to 5:00p.m.  The morning activities focus on the “Scull of the Duck” regional regatta, with over 200 rowers competing.  The “Rubber Ducky Regatta” will take place at 3p.m., when the rubber ducks take to the water.

The event will consist of a “flotilla” of 1000 rubber ducks sponsored by ticket holders and launched into the Mohawk River with a “race” to the finish.  Our hope is to award plenty of prizes for the winning ducks.  Please consider contributing a prize for the ticket holders of the speedy ducks, or a cash sponsorship of the event.  Your name will be announced in material promoting the event and at the event itself.  Prizes will be displayed at the boathouse before and during the event.

Friends of Shenendehowa Crew, Inc. is a tax exempt, 501©(3) corporation.  The club supports high school and middle school students in their effort to develop both physically and mentally in a positive, fun and safe environment through the sport of rowing – the ultimate team sport.  The club was founded in 1993 with one boat and twenty dedicated rowers.  Since that time we have grown to more than 100 rowers who compete with great success in local, regional, state, national and even international regattas.

Although the club represents the community with great distinction, it is not supported by the school financially.  Club registration supports the training of the rowers but fundraising efforts are necessary to provide the (expensive!) equipment for the rowers.

All proceeds from the Rubber Ducky Regatta will support Friends of Shenendehowa Crew, Inc. and are tax deductible.

I hope you will consider participating in the unique fundraising venture and join us for the festivities on the banks of the Mohawk May 31st!
