We are
extremely pleased to announce that Matthew Pearce has joined the
coaching staff as the new Varsity Coach of Shenendehowa Crew.
Since his arrival, Matt has logged 2000 miles and 4 states - nothing
like hitting the ground running!
Matt comes to us from a broad base of coaching sculling
and sweep rowing, as well as coaching a wide ranges of ages.
At an early age he began his crew
career as a coxswain and this sparked his passion for rowing.
Since starting to coach while in school, Matt has coordinated and
coached both Novice and Varsity programs. Most recently, he was
Head Coach and Head of Development and Elite Rowing with the Western
Cape Rowing Association and Bishops College in Cape Town, South
Africa. His crews, both in South Africa, and prior to this in
Australia, have achieved National Championships.
His attention
to the development of these crews both on and off the water has
created fitness and strength programs for all levels of rowers.
Matt will be working with all the squads - from
Modified through Varsity to create the development path of the younger
rowers through their advancements. His enthusiasm and attention
to the details to the sport are extremely apparent!
